Free Agency

Knicks Forward Carmelo Anthony celebrating a buzzer-beating shot

One of the ways for the Lakers to speed up their rebuilding process is through free agency. Here are several players the Lakers might try to sign this off season.

1. Carmelo Anthony: The 29 year-old forward is known for his incredible scoring ability but has never been a strong defender or much of a team player. He most likely would not fit well with Kobe.

2. Eric Bledsoe: The 24 year-old former Clipper thrived most of this season in a featured role on the Suns prior to going down with a knee injury. He is a phenomenal athlete known for his defense and hustle and could help the Lakers greatly depending on his price tag.

3. Greg Monroe: A 23 year-old power forward on the Detroit Pistons who is known for his offense and great passing from the post. He is a similar player to current Laker Pau Gasol in that he relies on skill rather than athleticism and leaves quite a bit to be desired on defense.

4. Lance Stephenson: The former Pacers second round pick is still only 23 years old and emerged as an all-star candidate this season. He has improved every year that he has been in the league and has the potential to continue to get better.

5. Luol Deng: The 28 year-old small forward has played miserably since he was traded to the Cavaliers but he is a two-time all-star and still has a lot of value in the right situation.
